The political rises across the globe and notably the west have risen since the early 2000's. The 2010's eurozone crisis, migration politics and distrust of mainstream parties appear as starting points for far-right parties gaining stronger footholds in Europe. Similar nationalist and/or anti-establishment movements also grew in other regions.
Far-right groups rose from 135 seats (18%) in 2019 to 187 seats (26%) in 2024, and their number of distinct parties increased from 25 to 40.
